Laurie Sarkadi
Laurie Sarkadi is an award-winning writer, producer and singer-songwriter. Her EP "Middle World," released in June 2020, is a companion to her memoir Voice in the Wild, about life off-grid in the Subarctic. She's currently working on her MA English at the University of Guelph under the supervision of author Lawrence Hill. She moved to Yellowknife as the Edmonton Journal’s northern bureau chief then spent sixteen years telling northerners’ stories through CBC radio and television before becoming editor of EDGE YK magazine. Her book, Voice in the Wild: a Memoir, explores the restorative powers of reconnecting with the natural world. Her non-fiction appears in Canadian Geographic, The Globe and Mail, thewalrus.ca and the Dropped Threads 3 anthology. She lives off-grid in the Northwest Territories with her husband and has three sons.
