Jorja Mulder
Jorja Mulder is a Métis born & raised Fort Resolution, a fifth generation descendant of Francois Beaulieu II. She is a self-taught traditional artist that has been drawn to traditional artwork and beadwork since childhood. She creates unique pieces reflecting her culture within her beadwork while using locally sourced and harvested materials such as moose hide, tufting, quills & fish bones. Jorja finds joy and solace in creating art. She loves seeing people happy with her creations, especially when worn within the community. Her hand drawn designs and self tanned hides are part of what makes her style so unique and sets her creations apart from others. While often making hair accessories by blending tradition with modernity, she also creates other traditional arts including moccasins, mukluks, mitts.
Jorja's art serves to preserve her heritage while expressing her evolving individuality. Each creation tells a story that is unique to the piece, connecting to her ancestors, culture, and community. Jorja's journey as an artist is about sharing her traditions, bringing joy to those around her, and ensuring her culture's legacy lives on.
