Story/Description

Last Updated: May 30, 2023

The Yellowknife Quilters are a very active and progressive group of quilters who range from traditional quilters all the way up to fabric artists. The group started in 1989 when 6 ladies met in each others' homes to quilt. Janet Sanders was the driving force getting this started. People started taking a sampler course given by her and the group started to grow until the present where we have a regular meeting place at the Baker Center. From this very modest beginning we now have over a 100 members. Our purpose is to generate appreciation and enthusiasm in the fine art of quiltmaking; to provide educational programs and current information about quilting; to hold meetings, lectures, classes and retreats for the education of our members and our community.
