The Canada Council for the Arts is bringing Canadian arts to Germany in 2020 with three one-time initiatives.

In the year leading up to the 2020 Frankfurt Book Fair—where Canada will be the Guest of Honour—the German arts and cultural scenes will showcase Canadian creativity.

Attention NWT Producers: Do you have a project at the development stage? The Canada Media Fund's Northern Incentive Development Financing Fund opens on May 30th.

The CMF’s mandate includes support for funding to production across the country. As such, the CMF is continuing its Northern Incentive. As part of the CMF's Convergent Stream, projects funded must include content to be developed and produced for distribution on at least two platforms, one of which must be television.

Under the Respectful Workplaces in the Arts banner, the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) is pleased to release a training video on workplace harassment in the arts for employers – including Boards of Directors of not-for-profit organizations. This animated video on ‘responding to allegations of harassment’ has been produced to explain the rights and responsibilities of employers with respect to workplace harassment. The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today Program Guidelines for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The CMF also announced it is committing $353M to invest in Canada’s television and digital media industry in 2019-2020. The breakdown of the 2019-2020 program budget can be accessed here

A new funding opportunity for New and Early Career Artists is open to craftspeople. Access funding for career advancement (mentorships, internships, apprenticeships, training and workshops), creative research and the creation of new work, residencies, public presentation, etc. If you have yet to meet the criteria for a professional artist with the Canada Council for the Arts, or if you are newly started in your arts career, look to this new pilot project to see if you can access support.

NorthWords Writers Festival is offering a fantastic opportunity for all NWT writers. Literary agent Marilyn Biderman of the Transatlantic Agency will be attending this year’s writers festival and is offering to work with six writers while she is here.

Let’s all come together for Canada’s 150th birthday and celebrate Northern Arts and Artists at the 29th Great Northern Arts Festival! hosted in Inuvik NT this year!  Artist who apply may be selected for a 10 day artist residency.
