Super Channel Development Fund: Call for Submissions

First Development Fund Deadline October 10, 2014

Super Channel, Canada’s only national English pay-television network, is pleased to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the next round of funding through the Super Channel Development Fund.

Fall Schedule for Masterpiece Sundays-Art Classes for Kids

Tracey Breitbach is very excited to offer a new series of art classes this fall for kids ages 5-12 on Sundays from September 21st to December 7th

This fall she will continue to explore the styles of famous artists, with the addition of renown Canadian landscape painters( Ted Harrison, Emily Carr and Lawren Harris) and will top off the fall season with a special series dedicated to the art of some great children book illustrators and folk artists.

Northern Images presents: crafts and socializing

Starting this week, on Wednesdays 6:30-9:30 pm, Northern Images Fine Art Gallery will be hosting a regular weekly drop-in "Craft Connections" evening where anyone and everyone is free to drop by to work on their crafts or simply to socialize.

The first drop-in evening is on Sept. 3, 2014.  This is a great opportunity to do many things. You can visit with others, bring a project to work on, or take a look at what other people are making. It is a great place to share skills, patterns and supplies. You can more

As a not-for-profit, the NACC relies heavily on the support and volunteer hours of our community members. It rallies on volunteers to receive tickets, usher patrons to their seats, run their concession, and provide excellent service to their guests.

NACC is very appreciative of the support that it receives and in return it encourages their volunteers to stay and enjoy the shows.

NWT Arts Council announces an additional application date for project applications from artists and arts organizations in the NWT


Northwest Territories (August 29, 2014) – The NWT Arts Council has added a second application date for funding applications.

The new additional date is October 31, 2014. The original funding application deadline of February 28, 2015 remains as in previous years.

“The addition of the second application date is to help applicants schedule their artistic projects more effectively for the upcoming year,” states Ben more

Call For Proposals: A New Play

A new national conversation is about to start. Through an innovative use of arts and technology, Canadians will be engaged in an evolving dialogue – both live and virtual – envisioning our nation’s next 150 years on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the conferences which led to the creation of our country.

In collaboration with Old Town Ramble & Ride and the City of Yellowknife, we have arranged a space for food, arts, crafts, & other vendors to show and/or sell their goods at this year’s Ramble & Ride on the waterfront.  The new and beautifully renovated Government Dock will be a perfect venue for what we hope and expect to be the best ever R&R Market.

The market will be open on Saturday & Sunday (August 2nd & 3rd), from 11am – 4pm.  Booth spaces will be 11’x10’ and will be available on a first-come, first –serve basis. more

YELLOWKNIFE (July 3, 2014) – The delivery of funding to filmmakers in the Northwest Territories has been improved to better reflect the stages through which a film is developed, thanks to revised Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) film funding contribution guidelines.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) is now providing funding for film development under the Support to Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) Policy.  The funding will assist with costs associated with completing film projects in two key areas: small production and trailer/ more

Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts: Fireweed Studio is open this summer

The Fireweed Studio (log building next to City Hall) is open this summer on Tuesday evenings (market hours) and Saturdays/Stat. holidays from 11:00 – 4:00.

Yellowknife – May 30th, 2014 – The Yellowknife Artist Run Community Centre (ARCC) and Folk on the Rocks are announcing a new partnership between the two organizations, with the collective aim of boosting the artistic presence at the Folk on the Rocks music festival.

Many of the existing structures at the Folk on the Rocks site need to be repainted or repaired.   David Whitelock, the new executive director of Folk on the Rocks, saw this as an opportunity to pull in the arts community, and so he approached the ARCC to propose a partnership.

NWT’s first-ever tourism app now on ITunes!

May 29, 2014 – Yellowknife, NT

The Northwest Territories’ first-ever tourism app was first launched on May 1st at Yellowknife’s Government dock and was available through Google’s Playstore for android devices.  Today, this app is now available on Apple’s ITunes.
