Parks Canada call for artists: Art in the Park in Ivvavik National Park
Parks Canada's Western Arctic Field Unit will be hosting Arctic base-camping trips in Ivvavik National Park this summer. A four-day catered trip has been specifically organized for artists who want to spend time creating work and being inspired by the landscape around them.
The pace of the hikes and activities on the Art in the Park trip July 7-10, 2014 is more relaxed so that participants can hike for a bit and then stop at an inspiring spot to focus on creating work. For a painter, that may include sketching or painting; for a photographer that may mean having time - without feeling rushed - to set up a tripod and get images from different angles and with perhaps some variations in light and shadows. We've also arranged for it to be a catered trip so that artists can spend more time focusing on the landscape and the creative process instead of meal preparation :-)
The trip dates were chosen specifically because upon returning from the park, visitors may choose to extend their stay in Inuvik to take in the Great Northern Arts Festival. More information about Art in the Park and other camping trips is available on our website at:
