NWT’s first-ever tourism app now on ITunes!

May 29, 2014 – Yellowknife, NT

The Northwest Territories’ first-ever tourism app was first launched on May 1st at Yellowknife’s Government dock and was available through Google’s Playstore for android devices.  Today, this app is now available on Apple’s ITunes.

The Yellowknife Old Town Soundwalk app weaves together stories and sounds from this iconic Yellowknife neighbourhood. The app includes a variety of archival photos and other multi-media features to help the user immerse themselves in Yellowknife’s Old Town.

The electronically guided walking tour is a great way to show visiting friends and family around Yellowknife’s historic and cultural heart. It’s also a good way for Yellowknifers  and newcomers or tourists to explore the neighbourhoods and see them from a new perspective.

“We have been thrilled with the initial response from android users and are looking forward to hearing more positive feedback from the many  folks who use Apple devices,” said Rosanna Strong, the app creator and owner of Strong Interpretation, a custom tour company that helps people discover the great things Yellowknife has to offer.

To encourage locals  to be tourists in their own backyard, Strong  Interpretation and UMVA! Media are pleased to extend the May discounted price of $1.99 CND until June 16 to encompass National Tourism Week.
