Call for volunteers - Burn on the Bay 2016: Balance

Burners and friends of burners of YK! The annual Burn on the Bay approaches. Please feel free to SHARE this call for volunteers with anyone you might think would be interested. The theme of this year's structure is BALANCE.

There are three options to help out -- you can do one or many!

1) BUILDING Balance happens this weekend (March 12-13) across from the Snow Castle on Yellowknife Bay. Your build team leads are Lachlan MacLean (engineer extraordinaire) and Missy Chenard (crew care and awesome possum). The crew will be out there from 9 AM to 5 PM both days; The crew ESPECIALLY needs more hands on Sunday the 13th to raise pieces up. They will strive to bring snacks and hot chocolate for a lunch break -- details on site. If you have a pick up truck, they would be ever grateful for helping move materials down to the ice -- please contact Kate for more details (see contact below)!!

They also have a Google Doodle to help us plan for the Build; please select your available times: http://doodle.com/poll/4sscp5hns859gw9w

2) BURN NIGHT is Saturday, March 26. Perimeter crew are needed for the public's safety. Perimeter requires being at the structure by no later than 8 pm on Saturday March 28. (Burn at 8:30 pm). Your PERIMETER LEAD is Michele Taylor, who will give you a break down on safety and keeping the public out of harm's way. It's about an hour commitment.

3) Extra hands are always needed for CLEAN UP! Clean up is a two part procedure. It first occurs when the perimeter breaks, as we shovel debris into a small heap and into burn bins. The crew tries to clean up as much as they can, so head lamps and shovels and CLEATS for your boots are highly recommended! They also come back Sunday morning around 10 AM til done to chip up whatever's left.

If you are interested in any/all of these tasks, the YK Burners would greatly appreciate your help. If you have any questions please contact Kate by email at kate.guay@burningman.org or 446-0009
