As the Northwest Territories has been working hard to follow the Chief Public Health Office’s Emerging Wisely plan, we are excited to be able to celebrate our community starting to get back to the “old normal”. This includes Folk On The Rocks’ ability to bring some top-notch southern artists to our Festival stage. With community safety still remaining a top concern, Folk On The Rocks is thrilled to have developed a special artist residency program out of the Government of the Northwest Territory’s mandatory 14-day isolation period called Emerging Wildly.
Festival artists Cartel Madras, Partner, and Celeigh Cardinal will isolate together in a Yellowknife house where they will live and create new work taking inspiration from their quarantine experiences, Yellowknife, and each other.
The new creative works will be presented in the lead up to the Festival during a concert on July 13 at 7:15pm in Somba K'e Civic Plaza. The event will be family-friendly, and free for all to attend.
Emerging Wildly is proudly funded by Heritage Canada.
