Walter Jr Rogers
My name is Walter Jr. Rogers and I was born in Inuvik, NT, February 22/1973. My parents are Walter and Maureen Elias and I have 7 sisters and 2 older brothers. I was fostered out at the age of 5 years old and was raised on a homestead farm in Alberta. I began drawing at a young age, I found a passion for pencil sketching and painting landscapes. I was inspired to try different mediums by an Inuvik art teacher, Mr. MacGillvery during my attendance at S.H.S.S. 1991-1993, during this time I was honoured with the Artist of the Year Award. Since school I have delved in leather work, metal work, sewing, beading, photography, and lately carving. I find a sense of peace as I create my crafts, I was told by an Elder "The best creations come from an open heart."
