Artist Story
I am a self taught folk and indie-rock musician. My song writing is like a journal that gets me through the winter and helps express the meaning of whatever craziness is going on.
My process starts with chord progression or a poem. Then it gets into the emotion. Expressing emotions through music is fun. My content is original and based on what I have seen in the North – sometimes my stories are about the darker side of Yellowknife. But they are also about perseverance and being optimistic about getting through whatever hell you are going through.
I love seeing other people’s reactions to my original material and what they interpret a song to be. I went to Wekweeti for National Addictions Awareness Week. Almost the whole community showed up – chiefs, elders, little kids – and there was a lot of feedback about songs really touching and connecting with them. That, to me, is what songwriting is about.
