Artist Bio:

My name is Kohl Carriere.

I am from the Deninu Kue, Fort Resolution, NT.

Through my paternal side, I come from one of the largest families in Deninu Kue. I was brought up with my Dene/Chipewyan family. Although I spent most of my life in my home community,  I am a Metis woman who also has French and Cree ancestry. I am Cree through my maternal side. I am proud of the lineage I inherited from both my parents.

I try to incorporate my Dene and Cree heritage within my beadwork. I take inspiration from Dene patterns and use colors of Cree powwow regalia. Within my work you'll see a mix of my identity, this makes it unique and one of a kind.

What I enjoy most about beading is it lets me tend to my number one role in life, being a mother. There is no time restriction on beadwork, I can pick up and put down when I please. Little CREEations is my second passion after being a mother to my son, Cree.
