The start of D. Momentum Creations began by pure inspiration. One day I just wanted to gift a good friend of mine and was trying to come up with an idea of something I could make myself, be different and unique.
I have always enjoyed picking rocks and pebbles whenever I find myself walking on a sandy beach. Hay River has the most beautiful and serene sandy beaches to be found on this side of the 60th Parallel and it is where upon strolling quietly one day that some ideas came into fruition.
My first creation was a glass jar that I covered with beach pebbles which could be used for anything my friend wanted to use it for, from a tea light lamp, a flower vase, a pencil jar, a paint brush holder...definitely more than one utility. The other project was making a wind chime using beautiful untouched and local driftwood.
Without really knowing how enjoyable that would become, I made a few more pieces and expanded on both my techniques and ideas. As of now, I create pebble bowls, wind chimes, soap holder made of rocks and will continue exploring new ideas, which will al be local art pieces for promoting Hay River's treasures as much as possible. I am very fortunate to be able to display and sell my work at Mama Bear's Gallery.
I will be honored to be part of a community of Artists that follow their passion and use their gift to the best of their abilities. D. Momentum is now part of me and will continue to create local art pieces.
