Deborah Raddi

Artist Bio:

Debbie Raddi is an Inuvialuit Elder grounded in the community of Tuktoyaktuk. Since her childhood, she has crafted items with seal, beaver, fox, and wolf, specializing in traditional crafts such as mukluks, mitts, slippers, and ookpiks.

Trained by her mother, Mona Felix, the original owner of Nautchiaq Fur Shop and a well-known seamstress, Debbie inherited her knowledge of sewing. She has carried this legacy into her professional life, starting with her initial role as a seamstress trainee where she honed her skills in working with fur machines and creating sealskin cushions.

Driven by a passion for sharing and teaching, Debbie opens her doors to anyone eager to learn, offering not just patterns and techniques, but stories about her work and her life. Through her work and teachings, Debbie Raddi invites people to connect with the Inuvialuit community's rich history and culture.
