Arthur Glenn Guevara
My name is Glenn Guevara. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and migrated to California when I was 18. I moved in Inuvik and considered this place home 7 years ago. I instantly fell in love with the land, culture and people. I have huge admiration to beautiful landscapes of the north and their rich culture. They always say that I am crazy for moving from warm California weather to cold arctic weather Inuvik. But what makes me stay is the people. Though the climate is cold, but the people are very warm and friendly.
I am an aspiring amateur photographer, who specialized in landscape, events and portraiture. I find joy in taking pictures and continually find ways to improve my craft. I want to use my passion in photography to convey how beautiful this place I consider home. I always want to create picture that moves people’s emotion, a picture that tells a story not only to narrate but has an ability to inspire.
As a photographer, in a journalistic point of view, I believe that I have a responsibility to convey what actually my eyes are seeing. Unfortunately, camera and human eyes have vast difference on their capability in terms of High dynamic range. Human eyes DR are way wider than of a camera. Consequently, most of the time, I do HDR processing. I believe that a responsible photographer (journalistic) should make sure they depict a picture as accurate as possible, meaning not too overly process but process it enough to match what the photographer eyes saw.
I absolutely love the nature and being outdoors. It is an escape and way to relax. It is a quite time, a time to appreciate the beauty of God’s Creation. The countless lakes, ice road, artic ocean and dancing northern lights are amazing. Every clicks and frames in my DSLR freezes and preserves its beauty for other’s to see the greatness of our Creator. Portraiture and events are my passion as well. I love connecting to people and attending events and experiencing their family values and culture. I believe that time is constant, it ticks and never stop nor can’t turn it back. I find Photography is one of the tools that can freeze it. It creates a moment in time that you can look back to. It tells a story of life, a memory, a piece of history and its my pleasure to be a part of it.
This town has been good to me and welcome me warmly. Using my passion in photography, I want to give back to the community by promoting its beautiful landscape and culture and as well as providing the residents their photography needs and give them access to professional grade photos that they can cherish for a lifetime.
